NEW DELHI: The Delimitation Commission, created to redesign the electoral districts of Assam, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, will visit the northeastern states and the Union territory after preparing a “broad framework” of the delimitation exercise, authorities said.
The commission will also seek opinions and input from its “associate members”, a group of Lok Sabha and MLA members, after developing the overall framework.
“First, the comprehensive framework for determining electoral districts based on the 2011 census must be developed. Only then will the Delimitation Commission visit the states to meet with the locals. Once the framework is drawn, it would also interact with associate members to seek their views and input, “said an official familiar with the events.
