NEW DELHI: Former India starter Gautam gambhir feel the rhythm of New Zealand Trent boult forms a formidable couple with Jasprit Bumrah, giving Mumbai Indians an advantage over Super Kings of Chennai in this IPL.

Boult was rounded up by the Mumbai Indians as a replacement for the experienced Sri Lankan sailor Lasith Malinga, who had chosen not to participate in the 13th IPL for personal reasons.
With the Mumbai Indians taking on the Chennai Super Kings in the tournament opener on Saturday in Abu Dhabi, Gambhir said he’s looking forward to seeing Boult and Bumrah do their thing.

“I’m very excited to see how Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah will pitch with the new ball, because we all know that Bumrah and Boult are world-class bowlers, and in the T20 format they are both options to take wicket,” Gambhir said on Star. Sports. displays ‘Cricket Connected’.
“A left-arm closer, who will bring the ball in for a right-handed hitter while Jasprit Bumrah believes in an unorthodox bowling style.”
Raina, a vital cog in the CSK midfielder, had retired from the IPL for “personal reasons” and Gambhir feels it will be a challenge for CSK without him at No. 3.

“There will be a challenge for the Chennai Super Kings considering they don’t have Suresh Raina batting at No. 3. Shane Watson hasn’t played international cricket for a long time, so we’d like to know who will start with him and how they will do it. They take on these bowlers, “said the former captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Gambhir, a two-time IPL winner skipper, believes the four-time champion Mumbai Indians will be favorites against Chennai considering the team’s overall balance and depth after Boult’s addition.
“I am more inclined towards the Mumbai Indians for the opening match because if we notice the balance of the team and the depth of the team without forgetting the addition of Trent Boult to the team it can be an excellent option,” he said.
“Every team wants a pitcher who takes grounds with a new ball and uses Jasprit Bumrah experimentally. I would like to see how these two players perform with the new ball not just in the first game but throughout the tournament.”

Former India hitter and former hitting coach Sanjay Bangar said it will be interesting to see how CSK captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni manages the fielding positions of the team’s older players.
“As MSD captain, I know he has a lot of experience, he also has other experienced players, but what I am looking forward to seeing is how he will adjust these experienced players on the field,” he said.

“I don’t think there is any challenge in hitting or bowling in regards to these experienced players. Considering that the T20 format is based on athletics and the field plays a vital role, how will you handle your older players placing them on the field? I think this will be the most challenging part as a captain for him. ”
