New Delhi: Union Minister of Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri reported on Saturday (September 12, 2020) that daily flight bookings from Darbhanga (Bihar) to Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru will begin at the end of September.
The minister, after reviewing the preliminary work of the Darbhanga airport, said that flight operations will begin in the first week of November, before the auspicious Chhath Puja festival and expressed that this is a blessing for 22 districts of northern Bihar.
The Minister of Civil Aviation reviewed the progress and status of the Darbhanga Airport construction together with Gopal Jee Thakur, MP, Darbhanga, Ashok Yadav, MP, Madhubani, Pradeep Singh Kharola, Secretary, MoCA Arvind Singh, AAI President and others officials.

Puri expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Darbhanga airport work and said that most of the work at the airport is almost complete. She added that the arrival and departure rooms, the check-in facility, the conveyor belt, etc. they have already been installed and the remaining work will be completed before the end of October.
“Spicejet has already been awarded this route under RCS-UDAN,” said the Minister.
Puri stressed that the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Hawai chappal se hawai jahaz tak’ continues to transform lives.
This is one more step within the ambitious UDAN Scheme to provide air connectivity to the interior regions of the country under the motto ‘Sab Uden, Sab Juden’.

He said that while work on the ground is in full swing in Darbhanga, other processes are also moving forward.
Notably, the Spicejet flight calibration took place today while the Minister was at Darbhanga Airport.
After reviewing the status of the Deoghar airport in Jharkhand, Puri said that work at the Deogarh airport is in an advanced stage and will be completed as scheduled. She had extensive discussions with MP beliefs Nishikant Dubey.
Puri said the airport would be operational very soon. She added that the government will make some key decisions in this regard next week.
