After top Bollywood producers filed a lawsuit against two channels on Monday for making ‘defamatory’ comments about the Hindi film industry, celebrities took to social media to share their reactions.

Former actor and host Simi Garewal tweeted, “#BollywoodStrikesBack It’s about time too! These news channels had crossed all boundaries. Using stars and abusing them for TRPs !! Why should it be tolerated? “

Rajiv Lakshman welcomed the collective position of Bollywood. He posted on Twitter, “#BollywoodStrikesBack This is good news. Four Bollywood industry associations and 34 leading producers such as Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Farhan Akhtar approached the Delhi High Court and filed a lawsuit in which they attempted to restrict Republic TV and Times Now to make “irresponsible, derogatory and defamatory comments” against the film industry and to prosecute members of the industry in the media.

The lawsuit filed through the DSK law firm stated: “This occurs as a result of these channels using words and expressions very derogatory to Bollywood, such as ‘dirt’, ‘dirt’, ‘scum’, ‘drug addicts’ and expressions such as ‘It is Bollywood where you have to clean the dirt’, ‘All the perfumes of Arabia cannot remove the stench and stench of this filth and scum from the belly of Bollywood’, ‘This is the dirtiest industry in the country’ and ‘Cocaine and LSD-soaked Bollywood. ‘
