A ban on public Chhath Puja celebrations and lockdown in the state until November 30 have been imposed due to the increase in COVID-19 cases. As recommended by BMC, small meetings at home are allowed.
“A meeting to review the bidding preparations is scheduled for today,” he added.
“The plan will be similar to Ganesha Utsav’s and the people themselves are underestimating the importance of staying at home,” added the mayor.
Chhath Puja is celebrated on the sixth day of the Kartik month of the Hindu calendar, which is also the fourth day after Diwali.
According to Hindu tradition, devotees worship the Sun God and his wife Usha to express gratitude and seek their blessings.
The Chhath Puja started with ‘nahay khay’ on Wednesday.
Addressing the issue of the second wave of coronavirus, the mayor stated that the second wave of coronavirus is not likely to happen as things are under control of the situation.
