Prime Minister Pramod Sawant tweeted on Wednesday a photo of “a Black Panther” from the Netravali wildlife sanctuary in southern Goa.

Sawant uploaded the image to his personal Twitter account.

“A great insight into Goas’ rich wildlife. Black Panther chamber caught in the Patiem heartbeat of the Netravali wildlife sanctuary,” he tweeted.

A senior forestry department official said they were trying to find out if it was a lone Black Panther at the sanctuary or if there were others as well.

While the area is a known habitat for tigers, this is the first time that a Black Panther has been captured on camera at the Netravali sanctuary, he added.
