But the rumor is that the change won’t stop with Bidkar alone. Similar changes are expected to be made in other positions as well. Last year, BJP offered the post of deputy mayor to its alliance partner, the Republican Party of India (RPI). There is talk that the mayor is likely to change too.

In fact, some dispute has emerged within RPI over the next candidate for the deputy mayor’s job, with some protesters for a new face, rather than anyone who has served in any position before. One name that is circulating is Sunita wadekar, who is currently the RPI Leader at PMC. Some leaders have demanded that someone like Farzana Shaikh instead, you should give yourself the opportunity.

Offering insight into the compulsions for the changing of the guard, a senior BJP leader, on condition of anonymity, said: “In the last election, the BJP got a majority that no other party enjoyed before, allowing it to do something substantial for he Punekars by dint of sheer strength in numbers.
