BJP wins four of 9 MLC seats, SP wins Varanasi | Lucknow News


LUCK: After posting an impressive win in recent polls, BJP continued its winning streak by landing four of the nine declared seats in MLC elections for teachers and constituencies on Saturday.
The party was ahead in two seats, one of them with an almost unbeatable advantage. The Samajwadi Party has won three and the Independents two.
The four seats won by the BJP candidates include Bareilly-Moradabad, Meerut, the Lucknow divisions of the teachers’ districts and the Agra headquarters of the graduate district. In Lucknow and Meerut division Graduated seats, party candidates were at the helm.
An Election Commission official said the winning candidates from the graduated constituencies were Mavendra Pratap Singh, who won the Agra division graduate position with 31,062 votes. His closest rival, Asim Yadav, got 27,244 votes. Similarly, the Samajwadi Party candidate, Maan Singh Yadav, won the Allahabad-Jhansi Graduate Electorate Division with 23,093 votes, while his closest competitor, Yagdutt Sharma of the BJP, lost by 4,333 votes.
Also in Varanasi, candidate of the Samajwadi Party Ashutosh sinha won the seat, garnering 25,351 votes, while his BJP rival, Kedarnath Singh, garnered 22,685 votes.
A total of 114 candidates were in the fray in five graduate district seats in the Lucknow, Agra, Varanasi, Meerut and Allahabad-Jhansi divisions.
Speaking to TOI, Yogeshwar Ram Mishra, Additional Chief Elections Commissioner, said: “The count in the Lucknow and Meerut division is still active. In Lucknow Division postgraduate position, BJP candidate Awanish Kumar Singh led by 2,746 votes over his closest competitor, MLC graduate Kanti Singh, in the eighth round. She led until the sixth round. ”
“In the Meerut division graduate position, BJP candidate Dinesh Goyal leads by nearly 40,000 votes, which is almost unbeatable. The full results of the elections will be announced Sunday night, ”he said.
On Saturday, Bharatiya Janata Party he won three teacher positions from the Lucknow, Meerut, Bareilly-Moradabad division by a good margin, while another two teacher positions Agra and Gorakhpur-Faizabad Teachers went to independent candidates.
This is the first time that candidates from the graduate and teacher constituencies have faced a party affiliation.
