UDALGUDDI (ASSAM): Expressing confidence that BJP would convincingly win the Bengal elections and return to office in Assam, Interior Minister Amit Cha cited Congressional alliances with Furfura Sharif Peerzada (ISF) in Bengal, Badruddin Ajmal in Assam and the Muslim League in Kerala to claim that voters could clearly see who was “communal and divisive.” Said, “I don’t understand the kind of secularism Congress talk about.”
Countering Trinamool’s “outsider” taunt of BJP, Shah said TMC leaders should see the size of participation in PM Modi rallies. “People in Bengal yearn for a change from the bad government and will adopt the PM’s vision for the development of the state,” he said, adding that BJP would win more than 200 (out of 294) seats. “NDA will re-form a government in Tamil Nadu,” he said.
“The most important factor is the development agenda that the Modi government is working on. Modi’s vision will strike a chord with the people of Bengal (and voters elsewhere), ”Shah told TOI during his election campaign in Assam.
In his election meetings, the Interior Minister said that the BJP government had established peace in Assam, with greatly reduced curfews and infiltration. He also said that the BJP manifesto for Bengal was truly inclusive and in both states, it addressed issues of identity and culture.
