Patna:
The ruling BJP today promised 19 lakh of jobs and free coronavirus vaccination for all in his manifesto for the Bihar elections starting next week. The party also stressed that ally Nitish Kumar will be prime minister for the next five years.
In an attempt to undermine opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav’s promise of “10 lakh of government jobs”, the BJP’s “Sankalp Patra” resolves to generate 19 lakh of job opportunities. The fact that the ruling party has almost doubled the amount promised by Tejashwi Yadav is significant, given that Prime Minister Nitish Kumar had recently questioned how he could raise money to pay for 10 lakhs of jobs.
Jobs has become the centerpiece of the bitter Bihar campaign, with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) of Tejashwi Yadav linking the crowds at his rallies to anger at the Nitish Kumar-led government over crippling unemployment in the state. .
The Bihar chief of the BJP, Sanjay Jaiswal, said that of the 19 lakhs of jobs listed in the manifesto, only four lakhs (three lakhs for teachers and one lakh in the health sector) are in the government sector. The rest are linked to promises to make Bihar an “IT hub” and to create an agricultural hub in the state.
Nitish Kumar, interrupted in two recent demonstrations, was seen criticizing and ridiculing Tejashwi’s promise of work, calling him inexperienced and naive. The BJP, in the first response to Tejashwi’s plan and its packed rallies, analyzed its promise and questioned how it planned to raise the funds to provide 10 lakhs of jobs.
The BJP manifesto is the first to include a Covid vaccine, which is still in the works and is being pursued by various companies and scientists around the world. “As soon as the COVID-19 vaccine is available for large-scale production, all people in Bihar will receive the free vaccination. This is the first promise mentioned in our survey manifesto,” said the Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman.
BJP promises include:
- 19 lakh of job opportunities
- Free Covid Vaccination for Everyone in Bihar
- 3 lakh new teacher appointments
- Make Bihar an IT hub to generate 10 lakhs of jobs
- Make women self-reliant
- One lakh of jobs in the healthcare sector
- Pucca houses for 30 lakh people
- free tablets for all students in class 9
Bihar will vote for a new assembly of 243 members on October 28, November 3 and 7. Results will be declared on November 10.
