Karnataka’s former chief minister, Siddaramaiah, lamented the “murder of democracy” on Wednesday night when he lashed out at the government of BS Yediyurappa, whom he called a “coward,” after the Prevention of Democracy Bill Slaughter of Cows and Preservation of Livestock (Amendment) was approved by the Legislative Assembly.
In a series of five tweets, the congressional leader said the bill against the slaughter of cows had been “presented and passed without any discussion,” and that the opposition party would boycott Thursday’s Assembly session to protest against an “undemocratic act”.
“Only a cowardly government, which cannot debate, can behave like this. They cannot stop us with their autocratic behavior. We will bring this to the people to fight corruption and despotism of BJP,” Siddaramaiah tweeted.
