BJP MP Mansukh Vasava’s U-Turn Day after resigning

Bharuch: Gujarat’s BJP MP and former Union Minister Mansukh Vasava, who resigned from the party a day earlier and said he would also resign as a member of Parliament, withdrew his resignation on Wednesday.

Vasava gave up the idea of quitting the party after talking with its top leaders.

Speaking to journalists after meeting Gujarat’s Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in Gandhinagar on Wednesday morning, he said: “Top party leaders told me that I will receive free treatment for my back and neck pain only if I continue to be deputy. This is not possible if I resign as deputy. Party leaders asked me to rest and assured me that a system will be established in which local party workers will work on my behalf. “

“The only reason I had decided to resign from the party and as a deputy was my health problems. I also discussed the same with the CM today. Now, after obtaining assurances from the senior leaders of the BJP, I have decided to withdraw my resignation. I will continue. serving my people as a deputy, “the PTI quoted Vasava as saying.

The tribal leader claimed that it was a mistake to think that he was upset with the government or the ruling BJP for some matters related to the tribes of the Narmada district, in particular about the inclusion of 121 villages in the Eco Sensitive Zone. “The state and Central governments are doing their best to solve the problems related to the Eco Sensitive Zone. I have no problems with the party or with the government. On the contrary, I firmly believe that the tribals benefited more under the Rule. BJP than under any previous government, “he said.

On Wednesday, the deputy denied that he was resigning due to the decision of the Union government to declare an Eco Sensitive Zone in his constituency. But in his resignation letter dated December 28 to Gujarat’s BJP chief CR Paatil, Vasava, a Frankish tribal leader, said that he did his best to be loyal to the party and assimilate its values, but was still prone to to make mistakes.

“Ultimately, I am a human being and humans tend to make mistakes. To ensure that the party does not suffer from my mistakes, I hereby resign from the party and apologize to the party,” he wrote. “I will meet with the spokesperson for Lok Sabha during the next session of Parliament’s budget and present my resignation as a deputy,” the letter said.

Speaking to reporters, Vasava avoided explaining what he meant by “mistakes.” “I have no problem with the BJP or the government. The only thing is that I do not feel well most of the time and the doctors have advised me to rest now.”

“Although I am a deputy, I was not able to travel much and be with my people due to this back pain, which has now started to affect the functioning of my brain,” he said. “I am not irreplaceable. A midterm election can always be announced. I must not continue as a deputy if I cannot keep in touch with my people. My decision has nothing to do with the Eco Sensitive Zone (issue). I am confident that it will be resolved soon by the government, ”he said.

Paatil said that Vasava was a sensitive person, someone who fights for the people in her constituency. “He is unhappy with some issues and I had a discussion about it with the Chief Minister this morning as well,” the BJP head of state told reporters.

“The main issue is the declaration of the Eco Sensitive Zone by the Center in its constituency. It seems that some people are misleading the locals on the subject after the Collector made some annotations about parcels of land. We are trying to convince Vasava and I’m sure a solution will be found soon, “said Paatil. Vasava, the only prominent face of the BJP in the tribal belt of Bharuch and Narmada districts, has been winning his seat in Lok Sabha since 1998.

He was appointed Minister of State of the Union for Tribal Affairs by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in May 2014. However, he was abruptly dismissed in July 2016. On December 20, he had sent a letter to Modi demanding withdrawal from the Area Eco Sensible of 121 towns in the Narmada district.

Local tribes were angry at “unnecessary interference” from officials after these tribal-dominated villages were included in the Eco Sensitive Zone, he said. A year ago, Vasava had openly targeted high-ranking IAS officer Rajiv Kumar Gupta after the administration of the Statue of Unity under Gupta removed the posts of local tribes on a road near the great monument.
