Despite being served notice by the BJP about his recent remarks, the MLA said today: “A criminal was killed by a soldier in the shooting,” referring to the defendant.

The Bairia BJP MLA had previously said that Dhirendra Pratap Singh had “opened fire in self-defense” because “it was a life and death situation for him.”

“Jai Prakash Pal Gama, who was killed in the shooting incident, was a criminal. He had four train damage cases against him,” Singh said.

“Gama had invaded the land of one Lokanath Tiwari in his village and attacked Tiwari when he opposed it,” Surendra Singh said, stating that his party “approved of his position.”

He claimed that he met with senior BJP leaders in recent days and they all said he was right.

When asked why he had been issued a show of cause notice if the BJP approved his action, he said it was tradition.

“Dhirendra Pratap Singh has made a mistake, but he is not a criminal. I can even lay down my life for the honor of the party workers,” he said.

BJP state chairman Swatantra Dev Singh issued the notice of demonstrative cause to the MLA on Monday and was given a week to respond. On Wednesday, Surendra Singh had said that she had not yet received the notice.

The MLA also accused the administration of bias and demanded that action be taken against the other party.

The chairman of the state unit had stated that Surendra Singh had been asked to let the law run its course. “Yes, a notification was sent to Surendra Singh and asked to refrain from making unnecessary statements. He has been given a week to explain his position,” said the BJP head of state.
