The leader of the BJP, Anupam Hazra, who had threatened to hug West Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, if infected with COVID-19, tested positive for the disease, health officials said.
Hazra, who was recently appointed national secretary of the saffron party, was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata, they said.

He had complained of discomfort and his samples were tested for coronavirus, the report of which came back positive, officials said.
Following his controversial statement, the Trinamool Congress had filed a police complaint against Hazra for defaming a public figure, who is a woman, thus violating the Constitution.
