BJP leader Kailash Sarang dies, Prime Minister Modi ‘distraught’ over passing


Madhya Pradesh BJP leader Kailash Sarang died on Saturday in a hospital in Mumbai, his son and Madhya Pradesh government minister Vishwas Sarang said.

The 85-year-old leader suffered from age-related ailments and had been admitted to a hospital in Mumbai 12 days ago, according to the PTI news agency.

“It should be reported with great sadness that the death of my revered father and former BJP leader, Shri Kailash Narayan Sarang ji, passed away today at 3 o’clock. His body will be airlifted from Mumbai to Bhopal at 8.30 am tomorrow, “Vishwas Sarang tweeted in Hindi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to the late leader, saying he was “deeply distressed” by the death of the compassionate and hardworking leader.

“Shri Kailash Sarang Ji made great efforts to strengthen the BJP in Madhya Pradesh. He will be remembered as a compassionate and hardworking leader, committed to the advancement of MP. Anguished by his passing. Condolences to his family and supporters. Om Shanti, ”Prime Minister Modi wrote on Twitter.
