BJP calls Rajasthan center of crime against women, on offensive against Gehlot – jaipur


Citing an unprecedented increase in crimes against women and Dalits in Rajasthan during the Ashok Gehlot government, the BJP has demanded the formulation of a new policy that includes the award of 10 lakh rupees as compensation and a government job for survivors of rape in the country. state.

A BJP delegation led by opposition leader Gulab Chand Kataria met with Governor Kalraj Mishra on Wednesday and urged him to instruct the state government to develop a new policy for the rehabilitation of rape survivors; Time-bound investigation of serious crimes against women and Dalits and effective follow-up of such cases.

In the memorandum submitted to Mishra, the BJP alleged that there has been an unprecedented increase in crimes against women, Dalits, tribals and ordinary people in the past 20 months, when Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot’s government was in office.

A total of 4.35 lakh cases have been recorded in Rajasthan from December 2018 to August 2020, including 11,200 cases of rape, sexual abuse, teasing, etc.

Figures from the national crime registries office for 2019 reveal that 7% of the country’s crime cases are from Rajasthan. The state ranks second in crimes against women. There has been an increase in crime by 49.10% in 2019 compared to 2018.

“The state ranks first in rape-related crimes, as 18.72% of the country’s crime occurs here, which is unfortunate. It is shameful that the state is at the forefront in rape cases of girls over 12 and under 18. Rajasthan ranks second in crimes against Dalits with 14.81% of the country’s total cases. ”
