The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national office bearer team was announced on Saturday, nine months after the party appointed JP Nadda as its new chairman.
Around 60% of the team is made up of new faces and there is more representation of women and OBC.
Members of Parliament in Rajya Sabha Saroj Pandey, Ram Madhav and Murlidhar Rao have been removed as national secretaries general. The party has included Dushyant Kumar Gautam, D Purandeswari, CT Ravi, Tarun Chugh and Dilip Saikia on the list of national secretaries general. Dushyant Gautam was National Vice President on the previous team.
BL Santhosh remains the organization’s national secretary general. V Satish, Saudan Singh and Shiv Prakash remain the joint national secretaries.
The BJP has also announced the appointment of Rajesh Aggarwal as party treasurer; the post had been vacant since 2014 after incumbent Piyush Goyal was appointed as a minister in Narendra Modi’s cabinet.
Sudhir Gupta, Member of Parliament, will be the Deputy Treasurer.
There are several additions to the list of National Vice Presidents, including West Bengal leader Mukul Roy, former Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das, MPs Rekha Verma, Annapurna Devi, Bharatiben Shiyal, DK Aruna, Radha Mohan Singh ( who is also a former minister), M Chuba Ao and AP Abdullakutty. Former Chattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh is also on the list along with former CM Vasundhara Raje of Rajasthan and Jay Panda.
Senior leaders Uma Bharti, Prabhat Jha, OP Mathur, Renu Devi, Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, Avinash Rai Khanna and Shyam Jaju have been removed from the vice presidents list.
Amit Malviya is in charge of national identification and social media cells, while Karnataka Tejashwi MP Suriya is in charge of Yuva Morcha. Dr. K Laxman from Telangana is in charge of the OBC cell, while Raj Kumar Chauhan, a MP from Uttar Pradesh, will lead the Kisan Morcha. Lal Singh Arya will head SC Morcha while ST Morcha will head Samir Oaraon; Jamal Siddiqui will head the minority Morcha. Anil Baluni, Rajya Sabha MP and main spokesperson will continue to be in charge of the media and Sanjay Myukh MLC of Bihar will be co-responsible for the media.
Former Information and Broadcasting Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore, Karnataka Chandrashekhar head of parliament Aparajita Sarangi, former Odisha bureaucrat and MP, Heena Gavit, MP from Maharashtra, Guru Prakash from Bihar and West Bengal MP Raju Bista have been included in the team of national spokespersons.
A party person who knows the details said that a cabinet shakeup is also expected and that some people who have not been included in the national team could find a place in the cabinet.
