PATNA: On Saturday, the BJP announced a 70-member electoral steering committee headed by Union Minister Nityanand Rai for the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar.
The Union Minister of State for Internal Affairs has been appointed chairman and coordinator of the committee, while the secretary general of the party’s state unit, Devesh Kumar, will be its coordinator. Bihar BJP Chief Sanjay Jaiswal said.
Chief deputy minister Sushil Kumar Modi and ministers of the Union RK Singh, Giriraj Singh and Ashwini Kumar Choubey he will be part of the 70-member team, he said.
Elections for the 243-member Bihar assembly will be held in October-November.
Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad will lead the election campaign group.
Bihar Minister of Health Mangal pandey he will be the chairman and coordinator of the party’s electoral management team, while Agriculture Minister Prem Kumar will chair the manifesto committee, Jaiswal said.
Bihar BJP has set a goal of winning three-quarters of the seats for the NDA in assembly polls.
