Bird impact forces IndiGo flight to Delhi to return to Mumbai

An IndiGo jet bound for Delhi was forced to return to Mumbai after a bird collided shortly after take-off on Sunday morning, the low-cost carrier said.

The Airbus A-320 plane with flight number 6E 5047 on the Mumbai-Delhi route had to be grounded after the bird hit.

The plane took off around 8:05 am, the scheduled departure time from Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), but returned minutes later.

IndiGo Flight 6E 5047 operating from Mumbai to Delhi had to return to Mumbai due to a bird strike. An alternate aircraft was arranged to operate the flight from Mumbai to Delhi. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to our passengers, ”said an IndiGo spokesperson.

However, the airline did not disclose the number of passengers on board the flight to Delhi.
