NEW DELHI: Following electoral success in Bihar, BJP’s next stop is west bengal where assembly polls They expire next year. the match has formed a core team of 11 members, mostly core leaders, to prepare the ground for mounting a high-voltage attack on the Trinamool congressional government, led by Mamata Banerjee, in the run-up to the elections.
Some of the core team members landed in Calcutta on Monday and will be camping there for a week to draw up a basic list of potential candidates and plan a focused campaign strategy, with input from state party unity.
Party sources said the state, which has 294 constituencies, will be divided into five zones, each of which will undergo the load of a central party secretary, who will finalize all decisions under the direction of the central leadership.
Realizing that the ‘Battle for Bengal’ still seems like an uphill task for the party, BJP chief JP Nadda and Interior Minister Amit Shah have decided to keep command of the assembly elections under. the direct responsibility of the central leadership rather than the unity of the state party that is plagued by factional disputes, the sources said.
The 11-member core team includes party general secretaries Kailash Vijayvargiya and Dushyant Gautam, five party secretaries: Sunil Deodhar, Vinod Tawade, Vinod Sonkar, Harish Dwivedi and Arvind menon – Amit Malviya, Head of Central Cell for IT and Social Media, and State Leaders Amit chakravarty and Kishore Burman.
While Kailash Vijayvargiya will be the coordinator, TI cell chief Amit Malviya and party secretaries Sunil Deodhar and Arvind Menon, Vinod Tawde are part of the team to prepare the ground for the battle.
On Tuesday, six central leaders, including Sunil Deodhar, Amit Malviya, and BL Santosh, held a strategy meeting with state leaders in Calcutta, where it was also decided that between November 18 and 20, each of the five zone managers will meet at the district level leaders of their respective areas.
