Bihar Polls: Shatrughan Sinha’s Son Left Behind Bankipur Seat | Bihar Assembly Elections 2020 Election News


PATNA: Congressional candidate Luv Sinha, son of party leader Shatrughan Sinha, is behind BJP’s Nitin Nabin from the Bankipur seat, according to trends from the Election Commission on Tuesday.
Luv Sinha faces three-time BJP MLA Nitin Nabin, who has been winning the seat since 2005.
Previously, Nabin expressed confidence in his prospects of winning the seat again.
Bankipur belongs to the Patna Sahib Lok Sabha constituency which Shatrughan Sinha depicted twice on a BJP ticket. Shatrughan Sinha had left the BJP prior to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and joined Congress. However, he lost the polls in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls as a candidate for Congress.
Meanwhile, Tej Pratap Yadav of RJD is behind Raj Kumar Ray of JD (U) from the Hasanpur seat.
Predicting an early victory for his brother, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, Tej tweeted today, “Tejashwi Bhavah Bihar!”
The counting of votes in Bihar’s assembly elections began at 8 am Tuesday at 55 counting centers in 38 districts of the state.
On one side is the NDA which includes JD (U) (115 seats), BJP (110 seats), Vikassheel Insaan Party (11 seats) and Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha (7 seats).
Mahagathbandhan constitutes RJD (144 seats) and Congress with 70 seats. Other partners in the alliance include CPI-ML (19 seats), CPI (6 seats) and CPM (4 seats).
Incumbent Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was the face of the NDA, while Mahagathbandhan declared Tejashwi Yadav as its chief minister candidate.
