Congressional top leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday called the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) “Modi Voting Machines” (MVM), but said the people of Bihar are angry this time and that they have decided to oust the government from BJP-JD (U) of power in Bihar. He also lashed out at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, accusing him of having misled the people of the state with his promise to create new jobs.

Addressing a campaign rally at Araria in the Seemanchal region, Gandhi attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Kumar on the issue of employment, which has emerged as one of the key issues in the Bihar Assembly elections. He said that both Kumar and Modi had promised jobs in their previous election campaigns, but misled people by not keeping their word.

“This time, wherever Nitishji goes to meetings, young people ask him where our jobs are. And Nitishji threatens them, hits them and tells them that I don’t need their votes … When a young man stands up and asks him where my job is and when will I get a job … and when Nitishji tells him I don’t need it. I need your votes… you are not responding to that person. He’s telling all the young people in Bihar … I don’t need their votes … It’s okay that he won’t get votes. The youth of Bihar will not vote for him, ”Gandhi said.

He said that the government that will form the Grand Alliance will be everyone’s government. “It will be the government of the poor, the farmers, all the castes and all the religions and all the districts … and together we will transform the state,” he said.

When someone from the crowd yelled EVM, he said “EVM? It is not EVM. It’s MVM, which stands for Modi voting machine. The ‘E’ is written like this. It’s the MVM – Modi voting machine. But this time the young people are angry in Bihar. So, be it EVM or MVM, the Grand Alliance is going to win, ”he said at a campaign meeting in Araria.

Addressing the rallies in Araria and Bihariganj in the Madhepura district, Gandhi continued his strident attack on Prime Minister Modi. In Araria, however, he said that Modi and Kumar are not two but one. While Gandhi has been lashing out at the prime minister at his rallies, the leader of RJD and the ministerial chief of the opposition alliance, Tejashwi Yadav, has kept silent on Modi and attacked only Kumar.

RJD leaders say there is anger against Kumar on the ground and keeping the campaign focused on Bihar is central to their campaign strategy. Gandhi said that “some speak of Modiji and others speak of Nitishji. The truth is that they are one. Because Nitish ji helps Narendra Modi and Modi makes Nitish Prime Minister. Therefore, there should be no misunderstanding. They are not two entities … they are one. “

Gandhi said that Kumar had last sought votes against the BJP, but misled people by switching sides and embracing the BJP later. “He stabbed you in the stomach …pehle peeche phir peth main… do teen baar… Nitishji ne pehli baar chura nahin maara hain..do, teen baar maara hain,” he said.

Gandhi said Prime Minister Modi’s decision to announce a nationwide shutdown without notice revealed that there is no place for the poor, farmers and workers in his heart.

“Modiji used to say that the battle against the crown would be won in 22 days … But today he is silent … and the coronavirus is spreading throughout the country … now he does not say a word. … .But Modi’s character was on display during the confinement… He would not have announced the one-shot confinement without warning if he had had compassion for the country’s poor and workers… he didn’t even think for a minute about the migrant workers of Bihar … who are all over the country … what will happen to them … have you ever seen Modi hugging the poor … he will hug Ambani and Adani but he won’t even hold the farmers’ hands … “, said.
