A Bihar official was suspended for issuing a travel pass to a BJP MLA who recently traveled to Kota to bring his daughter back, sparking controversy.
According to a notice issued by the states department of general administration on Tuesday night, Anu Kumar, Division Chief Petty Officer, Sadar, Nawada district, was suspended with immediate effect for issuing the pass in favor of Anil Singh, who represents the segment of the Hisua assembly.
The notice said Kumar had been found guilty of negligence in issuing the pass that facilitated interstate travel, which should not have been issued except in extraordinary circumstances during the closing period.
New disciplinary measures have been recommended against the SDO, which will be attached to the office of Division Commissioner, Magadh Division, during the period of its suspension, the notification added.
Singh had obtained the pass on April 15 and left for Rajasthan city the day after where he brought his 17-year-old daughter, a medical aspirant who, according to the lawmaker, had sunk into depression after she She will be left alone with her training classes. Suspended and most of her shelter companions had gone home.
Opposition parties in Bihar had taken a strong exception to development in light of Prime Minister Nitish Kumar’s disapproval of several state governments organizing the transport to bring back stranded students in Kota, a COVID access point- 19 which attracts aspiring doctors and engineers from across the country.
The opposition had accused the government of extending the facility to a VIP belonging to the ruling coalition while talking about the commitment to the national blockade.
Singh is also the primary whip, in the state assembly, of the BJP and has been provided with a government-owned vehicle in that capacity.
The driver of the Scorpio car was also slapped on Monday with a just cause notice for removing the vehicle from the state without proper approval from the secretary.
However, Singh claimed that he did not use the government-owned SUV but his private Fortuner car for the trip, although he had obtained passes for both vehicles “with great caution.” PTI
