During the rainy season, the water that fell from the mountains used to drain into the river, which used to upset Bhuiyan, so he thought about opening a canal.
He worked hard to save water from the mountains and take advantage of it.
“He has been digging the canal for the last 30 years, that too by himself. This will benefit a lot of animals and also to irrigate the fields. He is not doing it for his own benefit but for the whole area,” said Patti Manjhi, a local.
Ram Vilas Singh, a teacher residing here praised Bhuiyan for benefiting the villagers and their fields.
“A lot of people will benefit here. People are now getting to know him from his work,” he added.
