Bihar Elections: A Dozen Candidates Discarded from BJP and JD (U) Find Refuge in LJP

NEW DELHI / PATNA: Discarded by NDA, Lok Janshakti Party has quickly become a platform for frustrated aspirations, with its boss Chirag Paswan hugging BJP members, who were vying for party tickets but have been relegated to the bench due to to the alliance of the saffron team with JD. (OR).
Around 10 BJP members, including a couple of former members and incumbent board members, are likely to get LJP tickets. Two sitting JD (U) MLAs, who have been eliminated, were adopted by LJP and will enter the fray as party candidates to take over the nominees from CM Nitish Kumar. LJP plans to include them in the initial list of about 70 seats for JD (U) nominees. More names will be announced later.
On Wednesday, former Paliganj MLA BJP Usha Vidyarthi joined LJP after meeting with its chairman Chirag Paswan in Delhi. She will be the LJP candidate for the Paliganj seat that BJP has handed over to JD (U). She was the second BJP member to join the LJP after the former vice president of state of the saffron party, Rajendra Singh, switched to Paswan’s party. Similarly, Ravindra Yadav, a member of the BJP MLA, is likely to compete in the Jhajha constituency in Jamui for the LJP ticket.
LJP sources said that presenting these candidates is part of a plan to harass JD (U). They said more names will be included when the final list is released. Although the party has stated that Nitish is its primary target, its decision to accommodate the local BJP leaders is also causing the Saffron team a headache. The Bihar BJP warned the rebel party leaders on Wednesday that they would be expelled immediately and there would be no place for them.
