Saraogi had also won Darbhanga in the 2015 assembly elections by a margin of 7,460 votes. From Hajipur, Awadhesh Singh of the BJP defeated Deo Kumar Chaurasia of the RJD.

The vote count is ongoing for the 243-seat Bihar assembly and, according to trends on the Election Commission website, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which has the BJP, Janata Dal (United) and other parties. as its constituents, it has an advantage over the RJD-led Grand Alliance.

According to the Election Commission trends for the 243 seats, the NDA leads by 128 seats and the grand alliance is ahead at 104. The counting of votes will continue until Tuesday night, Bihar electoral director HR Srinivasa said.

“About 4.10 million votes were cast. Previously it used to count from 25 to 26 rounds, this time it reached around 35 rounds. So the count will continue until evening, ”said Srinivasa.

“It goes without saying that there has been an absolutely flawless counting process so far. In Bihar, just over 1 crore of votes have been counted, which means there is still a lot of ground to cover, ”said Deputy Election Commissioner Ashish Kundra.

The BJP is shaping up to be the largest party in Bihar. It currently leads in 76 seats, while its alliance partner JD (U) in 48. While the BJP contested 110 seats, the JD (U) presented its candidates in 115 seats. The RJD, which won the largest number of seats in the last Assembly elections in 2015, is currently at number 2, leading in 65 of the 144 seats it contested.

The fate of 3,755 candidates in 243 seats will be decided and the Electoral Commission will establish a total of 55 counting centers, which will house 414 corridors, spread over 38 districts of the state that voted in three phases on October 28, November 3 and the November 7.
