Bihar Assembly Surveys | LJP is very confused; it’s not even clear who they’re fighting, says Bhupendra Yadav

The NDA is fighting for development under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi with Nitish Kumar as chief ministerial candidate, says BJP poll by Bihar Bhupendra Yadav.

BJP Secretary General in charge of Bihar Bhupendra Yadav clarifies that the NDA campaign in the state is based on the development work carried out under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and that the Lok Janshakti Party is not part of this arrangement.

Is it said that the decision of the Lok Janshakti Party to fight alone in Bihar is a kind of Plan B of the BJP to break the older brother status of Janata Dal (U) in the NDA in Bihar? What do you say?

These conspiracy theories are ridiculous. The BJP has only one plan in the election and that is to fight it together with the JD (U). We have detailed that plan, but in case there is any confusion, I will explain it again. BJP will compete in 121 of the 243 seats, JD (U) will fight in 122. JD (U) will accommodate Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) under their seat quota, while BJP will accommodate Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP). That is the only plan we have.

LJP is not part of this arrangement because the party chose to fight alone. The NDA is fighting for development in Bihar under the leadership and vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with Nitish Kumar as the undisputed top ministerial candidate for the alliance.

There is talk that many BJP leaders, eager to fight the ballot boxes on the seats now given to JD (U) in seat adjustment, will be fighting for an LJP ticket. What will the party’s attitude be if that happens?

Anyone who has left the BJP to fight an election on the ballot of any other party, including the LJP, should be considered a person expelled from the BJP. As I said, we are fighting the elections in alliance with JD (U) and we have mutually agreed to an agreement to share seats with them. These are rumors spread by the opposition to confuse voters. But voters are smart enough to see through the ploy.

As for the LJP, I see them as a very confusing group. It is not even clear who the LJP is fighting. They say they are against RJD, but the LJP leader has congratulated RJD leader Tejashwi Pratap Yadav. They are fighting the NDA, but in the Center they continue to have a ministerial place in the NDA government.

His own party is plagued by infighting with accusations and counter-accusations from leaders selling tickets to the game. LJP takes a lot of thought to figure out what exactly they want.

What will be the NDA’s campaign points regarding the Bihar polls?

The NDA has entered the elections with the slogan of “Atmanirbhar Bihar”. The NDA government has done a lot of work on road, energy and water issues. Prime Minister Modi has launched fishing and animal husbandry projects worth more than Rs 20 billion in Bihar. Urban infrastructure projects worth 541 million rupees have been launched. For migrant workers, Prime Minister Modi has extended the distribution of free rations under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana until Chhath Puja in November.

For the past few years, the people of Bihar have been receiving benefits from Ujjwala Yojana and other benefits through DBT, which were previously just promises. This tireless development work will continue in Bihar under the vision of Prime Minister Modi and Nitish Kumar’s senior ministry.

These are the first elections to be held since the COVID19 pandemic broke out, and there are concerns that voters, especially the middle class, will not turn out in large numbers. Do you have a voting strategy?

As much as 89% of Bihar’s population is rural. The Election Commission has reduced the maximum number of voters per booth from 1,500 to 1,000. It has also increased polling stations from around 65,000 to 1 lakh. To ensure that the voter reaches the voting booth, the NDA in Bihar has organized a door-to-door campaign on 3,000 panchayats.

The BJP has given many more entries to women. They are active participants in electoral politics. This will also help attract more women to vote. More people connection programs will be undertaken because there is no doubt that there is a pandemic, but the process of democracy must not be weakened. To strengthen democracy, it is important that people participate in elections and seek accountability from their leaders.

None of this will happen at the cost of social distancing and other current regulations. The Election Commission is overseeing it, and as the ruling party, the NDA will also do everything it can to ensure that no one’s safety is compromised and that people feel safe enough to go out and vote.

The survey is billed as BJP Vs RJD. Do you agree with this characterization?

The choice is NDA versus UPA. The NDA has BJP, JD (U), HAM and VIP. We are solidly together and will form a government when the election results are announced on November 10.

As for the UPA, I remember the famous song by Mohammed Rafi Ek dil ke tukde hazar hue, koi yahaan tour koi wahaan tour (The heart has been broken into a thousand, pieces falling here and there). This so-called Mahagathbandhan first forced HAM to leave, then they stabbed Mukesh Sahni’s VIP in the back, forcing them to leave the coalition. Even the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has decided to fight on his own. So the UPA alliance is pointing out that it has no place for the backward, Mahadalits and tribal; instead, they are linked to the Ultra Left that are part of the tukde-tukde gang, interested in the violent struggle to divide India. The only thing that unites the voters of the UPA is the hunger for power now.

I want to take this opportunity to ask Congress, what prompted you to join the Ultra Left, the Maoist Leninist Party, the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist), along with the CPI (M) and the CPI?
