The upcoming hybrid renewable energy park in the Kutch district, for which Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone, is expected to attract an investment of Rs 1.50 billion. Also, the project is said to create job opportunities for 1 lakh people. In addition to the hybrid renewable energy park, PM Modi laid the foundation for a desalination plant at Mandvi, a 30,000 MW capacity hybrid renewable energy park along the Indo-Pak border in Khavda, as well as a unit of milk processing and packaging in Anjar. The upcoming hybrid renewable energy park, which is touted as the world’s largest facility, according to a PTI report. It will be capable of producing 30,000 megawatts or 30 gigawatts of electricity, using both wind farms and solar panels installed in one place.

The first energy project of its kind spans 72,600 hectares of vacant land. It is expected to play a significant role in fulfilling the nation’s vision of generating 450 gigawatts of power by 2030. The power park will be built on a land area of more than 70,000 hectares, which is equal to the size of countries like Bahrain and Singapore. The next hybrid renewable energy park will be larger than the largest metropolitan cities in India.

The project will benefit both farmers and industry. In addition, the project would reduce pollution as it will help stop the 5 million tonnes of carbon dioxide entering the atmosphere each year, which is equivalent to planting up to nine million trees, he added. In terms of renewable energy production, India now ranks fourth in the world and the country’s installed solar generation capacity has increased 16 times in six years, Prime Minister Modi said.

The second proposed project, for which the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone, is a 100 MLD desalination plant. To turn seawater into fresh water, this plant is emerging near the coastal town of Mandvi. Once up and running, the plant will provide 10 crore liters of water to an 8 lakh population living in Kutch’s Lakhpat Abdasa, Mandvi, Mundra and Nakhatrana villages. The third project is a milk packaging and processing plant at Anjar’s Sarhad dairy, which is fully automated and will have a processing capacity of 2 lakh liters per day.
