Sunday saw three new housemates – Kavita Kaushik, Naina Singh and Shardul Pandit – entering Bigg Boss 14. The trio interacted with Salman Khan on stage and got a glimpse of what one can expect of them on the show.
FIR Kavita fame said she’s been a Bigg Boss fan and promised to add some entertainment to the otherwise “boring” season. In an exclusive chat with indianexpress.com, the actress opened up about her participation, competition, and even described the contestants in her own style.
Excerpts from the conversation:
There was a lot of suspense about your participation in Bigg Boss 14. What made you finally say yes?
I think the moment. The unthinkable is happening and the pandemic has made me realize that I was being too rigid. I’ve been approached since season one, and while it’s always so tempting, I’ve always said no. Bigg Boss is a show that everyone watches. It’s on such a popular channel and to be honest the budgets are excellent. There was a lot of temptation, but what put me off each time was the fights. It was mental torture. However, I have come to realize that the world has now become a similar place. Whatever you say, even if it’s good or not, it gets a lot of criticism. The whole barrier has fallen and I thought what the damage is Also, it’s still scary to go out and since the team is taking so many precautions, it was the perfect timing.
So why participate as a wild card and not participate from the beginning?
I have been doing yoga for the last 10 years and recently took a yoga teacher training course. It was over last week and therefore I had to delay my entry.
Do you think that all the yoga will be beneficial during your stay in the house?
I really hope so, even though I am only a practitioner, not a yogini. Honestly, I was stubborn and arrogant until a few years ago, but now I’ve calmed down a lot. I know there will be times when I could lose it and the years of yoga would fail me. I think even I want to know how I will handle everything.
What will Kavita Kaushik add to the show?
Much masti, hasi, khushi, dosti (fun, laughter, happiness and friendship). I want people to have fun and enjoy themselves, even when there is a fight. You have to make it interesting, since one would not like to always see anger. There has to be entertainment in everything.
Did you get to see the show? What is your assessment of the contestants?
As I already mentioned, it was busy so I didn’t really follow the season. However, I watched some episodes and felt like they were copying the contestants from the last few seasons. This is not Splitsvilla, everyone is fighting in the house. It has gotten so boring that there are hardly any emotions. Honestly, I have loved watching the show and have even cried a couple of times watching the contestants. This is a game of emotions, real and if you fake it, there is no fun.
Are there any journeys that you have enjoyed on Bigg Boss over the years?
I really enjoyed watching Gauahar Khan. I have seen her movies, but she has not looked as beautiful in any of her projects as in Bigg Boss. She wasn’t even always dressed in designer clothes and I think I lost my heart for her.
Well then you missed the chance to be with her on the show, as the ‘Toofani Seniors’ left the show recently.
But I think Gauahar was the most important thing in his season. Bigg Boss is about the entire season and not just the contestants. Even if you get them back, that wow factor can’t be recreated. He also loved Hina Khan and the way she has transformed. But I’d rather remember them for their seasons than this time.
This season, three main characters from television: you, Rubina and Jasmin are competing. It’s like the battle between television bahus.
I think there really is no comparison as we all belong to different genres. I can never look good as a bahu. Jasmin is also a girl, so I think it will be like this.
You played the very colorful Inspector Chandramukhi Chautala on FIR and the ‘Dabangg’ Salman Khan would also be on the show. Are you excited to interact with him?
Every time I have met him, he has been wonderful and extremely kind. He has always complimented me on FIR. And I’m really excited to have some nok-jhok (fun) with him.
Any message for your fans?
You have loved me so much all these years. And now when I’m walking into a show, I’ve always been scared. I need your support and love even more. While it would be inside, it is a journey we have to complete together. Only then would it be fun.
