Biden has the leadership; Trump says he will legally challenge states won by former vice president

On Thursday, Vice President Joe Biden came closer to victory in the 2020 U.S. presidential election, as officials in key states on the battlefield continued to count legally cast votes. However, President Donald Trump alleged fraud without presenting evidence, filed lawsuits and asked for the count to be stopped.

Biden was declared the winner of Michigan and Wisconsin, two key states that Trump won four years ago. Biden’s victories brought him to 253 electoral votes, meaning he is now in battlefield status of crossing 270 and becoming president-elect, according to CNN. Trump has 213 electoral votes.

The margin between Trump and Biden also narrowed in Georgia, where the count is still ongoing. The state hasn’t endorsed a Democrat for president since 1992. A Biden campaign aide said they “feel good” about Georgia, along with Arizona and Pennsylvania.

Protesters took to the streets of several cities to demand that the count be allowed to continue, while others have called for the count to be stopped.
