US President-elect Joe Biden announced on Friday additional members of the White House press and communication team, including India-born Vedant Patel, who has been appointed to the post of deputy press secretary.

Mr. Patel was a key member of the Biden-Harris campaign and is currently a senior spokesperson for the Biden-Harris Presidential Inaugural Committee. Prior to this, he was on Biden’s team during the Democratic primary, leading communications for Nevada and other western states. He has also served as Director of Communications for Native American Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, a progressive legislator from Washington state.

Mr. Patel was born in India and raised in California according to a biography published by the Biden-Harris transition team.
Mr. Patel will work on the team of White House press secretary-designate Jen Psaki.
