New Delhi / Hathras:

Bhim’s army chief Chandrashekhar Azad is heading to Hathras in Uttar Pradesh to meet with the family of the 20-year-old woman who died Tuesday at a Delhi hospital following an alleged gang rape and torture last month.

Chandrashekhar Azad’s visit comes a day after Congressional leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra met the family at their home.

On Friday, Bhim’s army chief joined a protest in Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, where hundreds of people arrived with banners and shouted slogans against the incident, which has sparked mass outrage.

“Our fight will continue until the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh [Yogi Adityanath] he does not resign and justice is not done. I urge the Supreme Court to take note of the incident, “he said in Jantar Mantar.

Bhim’s Army also led a protest earlier this week in front of Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital, where the young woman died from horrific injuries sustained in the assault.

“In the same Uttar Pradesh that elected him and sent him to parliament, there is brutality against a daughter of Hathras. She was raped and murdered … her broken bones and her body cremated as garbage. When there is human rights violation in Uttar Pradesh, Does the Prime Minister not say a word? “Chandrashekhar Azad had said earlier in an emotional message, attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a UP MP in Varanasi.

Several opposition leaders have been prevented from going to Hathras this week. On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were arrested when they made their first attempt to meet the victim’s family.

The next day, Derek O’Brien of the Trinamool Congress and several other TMC leaders said they were mistreated “just 1.5 km from the victim’s home.”
