On Sunday, a magistrate court sent television comedian Bharti Singh and her husband, screenwriter and actor, Haarsh Limbachiyaa, into judicial custody until December 14. Bharti and Haarsh received bail of 15,000 rupees according to the court order.
Previously, the court had ordered Bharti Singh to Kalyan Prison, while her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa was taken to Taloja Prison.
A few hours ago, Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbichiyaa were seen leaving for their home after being released on bail. They were accompanied by their relatives. The couple waved to the media.
The couple were arrested after the NCB raided their production and residence office and allegedly found 86.5 grams of ganja.
The couple had moved to court for bail on Sunday. They had been presented to the court at that time and placed in judicial custody until December 4. They were arrested under the provisions of the NDPS Act in a case of alleged possession and use of marijuana. The NCB had said that Singh and Limbachiyaa had accepted the consumption of ganja.
The couple’s defender, Ayaz Khan, had requested bail, claiming that it was not even the case with the prosecution that they were selling drugs. The amount seized was small and the punishment was up to one year.
Bharti and Haarsh are not the only couple whose names came up in the drug case, earlier the Office of Narcotics Control had called Abigail Pandey and Sanam Johar for an investigation.
