Bangalore:
Starting today (Monday), travelers in Bengaluru will finally be able to catch a train that passes near Kempegowda International Airport, located on the outskirts of the city. Until now, apart from private vehicles, travelers used to rely on expensive taxis and buses, and even the bus ticket cost 250 rupees in most parts of the city.
Now the South Western Railway has started service to Devanahalli Station (located on the edge of the airport boundary). The new service will provide the first, fastest and least expensive off-road alternative for travelers to get to the airport. You can board a train from the city and get to the airport stop station (located on the edge of the airport boundary) with fares as low as Rs 10-15. A total of five pairs of trains will circulate between the city and the airport stop station in the coming months. A shuttle service between the station and the airport will be provided at rates as low as Rs 10.
“Starting Monday, Bengalis can take a train to Kempegowda International Airport, Devanahalli Station. Trains will operate from Bengaluru City Station to the newly built KIA, Devanahalli Stop Station,” the Chief Minister tweeted. BS Yediyurappa.

Vijaya, Deputy General Manager and Director of Public Relations for South Western Railways, said: “As we all know, Kempegowda International Airport is one of the largest and busiest airports in our country. Getting to this airport has always been a problem for air travelers. Some areas of Bangalore would take between an hour and a half and two hours. Given the traffic situation in Bangalore, it was a real problem to get to the airport. To eliminate this problem, BIAL and the Southwest Railways have partnered to provide a stop station that is very close to the airport. The railways provided the land. The airport authorities have built the station. To exclusively serve this station, we operate 5 pairs of trains. Two are from Majestic, ie KSR, Bengaluru One will be from Yelahanka. Ticket fee, as is always the case with railways, is very low. Ticket fee from Bangal station ore is ₹ 10. If you pass by Cantonment Station, it is ₹ 15 “.
The service is expected to benefit local residents who work at the airport, the official said. “There are thousands of workers at Bangalore airport. The devices will also be of great benefit to them. We have spoken with the airport authorities and designed the train schedules in such a way as to cater for peak times at the airport, which are early in the morning and again late in the evening. We hope that the services are well sponsored, “said Ms. Vijaya.
For now, the travel time from the Majestic main train station is about an hour due to intermediate stops. But the Railways are considering introducing a non-stop train if the answer is good.
