Bengal BJP Leader Arrested After Party Leader Claims He Framed Her In Drug Case

Rakesh Singh’s son claimed his father was being a victim

Calcutta:

Bengal BJP leader Rakesh Singh, whom the youth party leader Pamela Goswami has named in a drug case, has been arrested in Burdwan state district. Apparently he was fleeing the state by road. The Calcutta police have also arrested her two sons for not allowing them to enter her residence today for lack of a search warrant, which came later.

Goswami, who was arrested last week on charges of possessing around 100 grams of cocaine, accused Singh, a close aide to BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya, of implicating her in the drug case. “They have been trying to frame me for a long time. Rakesh Singh has done this. I have credible information. I have evidence,” he told reporters in Bengali in front of a local court.

Mr. Singh was asked to appear today at the Kolkata Police Headquarters for questioning regarding the case. However, he refused, saying that he was traveling to Delhi and will appear before the police on February 26, when he returns to the city.

Earlier today, a huge police force approached the outside of Mr. Singh’s home. However, her children refused to let the police in.

The high-intensity drama unfolded one day when a CBI team visited the home of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, to question his wife Rujira about some bank transactions allegedly linked to a scam.

Mr. Singh’s family insisted that the police action was to avenge the action against the wife of the Diamond Harbor deputy.

“My father is being victimized. I don’t know anything about Pamela Goswami and the drug case. My father is not involved. He is being victimized, I don’t know why,” his son, Saheb Singh, had told NDTV. .
