Bengal BJP Director Dilip Ghosh Says ‘Corona’s Over’; TMC asks you to visit a doctor | India News

CALCUTTA: West Bengal BJP President Dilip Ghosh has claimed that the Covid-19 pandemic is over, but Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is imposing the blockade and other restrictions on West Bengal just to prevent the BJP from hosting meetings public before the assembly elections to be held next year.
Ghosh’s comment was made at a time when the country and state are witnessing sharp spikes in daily Covid-19 cases of 95,000 and 3,000 respectively.
The rally where Ghosh made his comment was held in the Hooghly district on Wednesday and was attended by large numbers of people without regard to social distancing rules to control the spread of contagion.
The video of the meeting has gone viral.
“Didi’s (Mamata Banerjee) siblings (sympathizers) feel uncomfortable after watching the meeting (at the meeting). It is not because of fear of the coronavirus, but fear of the BJP! Corona is over, but Didi is imposing a unnecessary lockdown … statewide to prevent BJP from holding meetings and rallies, “Ghosh said.
A complete lockdown is in the state on Friday.
The Trinamool Congress mocked Ghosh for his comments and asked him to see a doctor.
“Every day we are witnessing an increase of 3000 cases in Bengal and more than 95,000 cases in the country. And the president of the state of BJP, Dilip Ghosh, makes a hilarious statement that the Covid-19 is gone! I believe that he should visit a doctor for treatment. “TMC MP Kalyan Bandopadhyay said.
The total number of Covid-19 cases in Bengal now stands at 1.93,175. More than 3,700 people have died from the contagion, including comorbidities.
Hooghly district, where Ghosh was addressing the rally, had the fifth highest number of cases in the state.
