West Bengal BJP Chairman Dilip Ghosh alleged on Monday that the law and order situation in the state is worsening and it is gradually turning into a mafia-ruled state like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
In response, the Trinamool Congress said that it is good that it accepted that Mafia-raj existed in those two states where the BJP is in power.
“West Bengal is slipping into a situation similar to that of the raj-mafia as in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The way a councilor was shot and killed in front of a police station using a pistol is disgraceful, ”Ghosh said while speaking to the media about the murder of BJP leader Manish Shukla in Titagarg, Parganas district, 24 north.
Shukla, a Titagarh Township Councilor, was shot and killed Sunday by two assailants on a bicycle.
“The law and order situation in Bengal worsens with each passing day. The police are hand in hand in the conspiracy to kill a mass leader like Shukla, ”Ghosh said.
Ghosh wondered if free and fair elections would be possible in the state if such an anarchic situation continues.
The assembly election in the state should take place next year.
“More than 120 BJP workers have been killed in the state in recent years,” he said.
The TMC leadership mocked Ghosh for his comments.
“It is good that he accepted that Mafia Raj exists in UP and Bihar, ruled by BJP. We are happy that, at least for once, he spoke the truth, ”said TMC leader and senior minister Firhad Hakim.
