‘Being a woman is very exhausting’: Kerala actor shares that she was sexually harassed in a shopping mall

The actor took to Instagram on Thursday to relate the incident.

On a touching note on social media, a Kerala actress has shared that she was sexually harassed on Thursday at a Kochi mall. Taking to Instagram to share the incident that took place at Kochi’s Lulu Mall, the actor says she was groped by a man while shopping with her family.

The actor called out about the disturbing incident via a note on social media, urging women to react strongly in such cases. “Two men passed me in a generously spaced aisle in the Lulu hypermarket that barely had people crowded together and one of them not so accidentally brushed his hands on my back as he passed me. Because it caught me off guard, I couldn’t react immediately. I wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt, but you know that when something is not right, you feel it, “wrote the actor.

She was blank for a minute trying to process this, she writes. Although the actor tried to confront the men, they ignored her. “Even though I made sure they knew that I understood what had happened, I was still very angry that I couldn’t say anything,” the actor said.

She wrote that the men followed her again, this time trying to strike up a frivolous conversation with her. They showed the audacity to talk to me and my sister, writes the actor. “Trying to get closer while she was talking, I wanted to know the names of the movies I’ve been a part of,” he said. He adds that the men walked away after seeing his mother.

“As I write this, I can think of a thousand things I could have said to you and a hundred things I could have done. But I did not. I just couldn’t. I just wanted to leave this here so I could feel some relief. Feeling like I’ve done something about it knowing fully that they left without guilt or problems. Knowing that they could do it again makes me angry, ”the actor wrote.

Adding that he “despises” the deeply disturbing incident, the actor urged women to react strongly in such cases.

“Being a woman has been very exhausting, being on guard every minute when you leave your house. To look at my clothes when I bend over and turn. Taking care of my chest with my arms in the middle of the crowd… And on the days that I’m at home, I worry about my mother, my sister, my friends who have to do the same things. It is all due to these sick men. You take away our security. You take away our comfort and the joy of our femininity. I despise you, ”the actor wrote.

Addressing men, he added: “If you have done anything remotely inappropriate to a woman, know that you are the lowest form of life and that you deserve nothing but hell. And to all the women who read his post, he said, “I hope you have the courage to slap those men hard in the face.”
