The Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan held a virtual review meeting with Delhi government officials on Friday to discuss preparations for the trial of the Covid-19 vaccination campaign to be carried out in all the states and territories of the union on January 2.
In Delhi, the drill will be carried out in three districts, Health Secretary Amit Singla informed the health minister: at an urban primary health center in Darya Ganj, at Guru Teg Bahadur hospital in Shahdara, and at Venkateshwar hospital in Dwarka.
“We have been following all the guidelines formed at the national level. All activities have been completed within the established deadlines. The healthcare worker data has been collected and uploaded to the Co-WIN app. As suggested by leading authorities, additional vaccinators have also been identified. We are also planning additional staff training, which will take place at the district level, ”said Singla.
Sanjeev Kumar, District Magistrate of Shahdara, where GTB Hospital has been assigned as one of the session sites, said: “We have about 44 session sites in the district, of which 31 are ready. The hospital session site is now ready and work on the remaining sites will be completed soon. To carry out the vaccination program, we need to have three rooms and some of the sites only have two. So the work continues and everything will be completed on time. “
The hospital has 70 doctors and supervisors, 110 vaccinators and 63 additional vaccinators to carry out the extensive campaign. “Training for all health workers has been completed. The drill will take place at the hospital on Saturday. A waiting area has been identified and we have two separate rooms for vaccination and observation. There are 2,700 health workers in the GTB hospital ”.
The city will vaccinate 51 lakhs of people in the first phase, including health workers, police, civil defense volunteers, those over 50 and under 50 with comorbidities such as diabetes, heart disease, among others.
Gopi Krishna, District Magistrate for the Central District, said: “We have identified 25 beneficiaries and the details have been uploaded to the application. There are 77 identified centers in our district and preparations continue. We are installing CCTV cameras for the safety and storage of the vaccine. A team of 300 people have been trained for the immunization program ”.
Dr. Vardhan has directed the district officials to complete the work in the prescribed time. Naveen Aggarwal, district magistrate for the southeast district, said a list of 15,000 beneficiaries from the district was uploaded. “There are 47 session sites, of which 30 are ready and 17 more sites need to be added,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Union Health Minister said: “Let’s try to implement it as a real exercise with attention to the smallest detail. Proper coordination will go a long way toward creating mutual understanding … “
Building on the 1994 polio pulse campaign in Delhi, he said there is a need to mobilize stakeholders, NGOs, civil society organizations and others. He also emphasized the need for adequate security arrangements at session venues, cold chain points and during vaccine transport.
