Before Durgamati, Anushka Shetty wishes Bhumi Pednekar and the team: ‘Best wishes, looking forward’ – bollywood

Actress Anushka Shetty has shared best wishes to Durgamati’s team ahead of the film’s premiere on Amazon Prime on Friday. Durgamati, starring Bhumi Pednekar in the title role, is a remake of the Telugu horror thriller Bhaagamathie starring Anushka. It is directed by the director of the original, Ashok.

“Wishing my dear Bhumi Pednekar, Ashok Garu, all the cast and crew of #DURGAMATI all the best … I look forward to @bhumipednekar @ashokdirector @primevideoin #DurgamatiOnPrime,” Anushka wrote. Ever since the Durgamati trailer came out, Anushka fans have been comparing the two.

Bhumi has addressed the comparisons saying they are natural. “I just hope that all Anushka Shetty fans see the movie too,” the actor had said in an interview with the Hindustan Times. Durgamati is supported by Akshay Kumar and Bhushan Kumar. The film revolves around an IAS officer who becomes the victim of a political conspiracy. Imprisoned in an ancient fort, she is possessed by the spirit of a queen who wants revenge.

Bhumi said that what impressed him the most about the film was the canvas it provided for him in terms of performance. “We rarely see movies directed by women where the main character has so much heroism. The canvas that the movie has given me, you rarely see. I wanted to do something that was larger than life, something that male actors and stars traditionally do. I wanted to make a film that blurs that division between both genders. It is a movie that has given me the opportunity to offer the performance of my life, “he said.

He added that he has brought something “unique and original” to the character. “I do this with all my movies. I never really rely on an example or look for a reference. This is a remake and there is a certain performance that has been loved and has already been seen. He had seen ‘Bhaagamathie’, when it was launched and there was no talk of Durgamati at the time. So I really enjoyed watching the movie and I really wished a movie like this would be made in Hindi because the canvas it gives to the actors is really cool. It’s very experimental and it just pushes the limits, “he said.
