BCCI AGM: IPL of 10 teams since the 2022 edition | Cricket news


AHMEDABAD: The BCCIThe governing body ratified this Thursday the entry of two new franchises in the IPL to make it a 10-team affair starting in 2022 during their Annual General Meeting (AGM) here.
In another important development, the Board initially decided to endorse the ICC’s offer to include cricket, in the T20 format, in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games “after obtaining some clarification from the International Olympic Committee.”
“Two new teams will be introduced at the 2022 IPL,” a Board source told PTI.
Additionally, it was decided that all first-class players, both male and female, will receive adequate compensation for the shortened national season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
BCCI plans to launch the national season, after several months of delay, in January with the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 championship.

In other decisions, the veteran leader of Congress, Rajiv Shukla, was officially appointed Vice Chairman of the Board in place of his protégé Mahim Verma of Uttarakhand.
It was also known that the general body ruled in favor of Sourav Ganguly continuing as a director on the ICC Board.
Secretary Jay Shah will be the alternate director and representative of India at the meetings of the Chief Executive Committee of the world body.
