Barcelona discards Sergi Roberto for two months, offers update on Gerard Piqué

Barcelona confirmed this Sunday that Sergi Roberto has been out for two months after suffering a thigh injury against Atlético de Madrid on Sunday.

The Catalan giants have also offered an update on Gerard Piqué’s knee injury, but have not said how long the central defender will be out of the game.

“Gerard Piqué has a crooked right knee. The Barça center-back is waiting for more tests to find out the extent of the injury after a collision with the Atlético Correa striker forced him to leave the pitch in the hour ”.

It appears that Roberto will be replaced in the starting eleven by Sergino Dest, who had a brilliant start to life at Barça since moving to Ajax, but has retired from the team in recent weeks. Dest now has a chance to make the right-back position his own with Roberto now out of the game until 2021.

Piqué’s absence is more complicated because Ronald Araujo and Samuel Umtiti are also out of action. Frenkie de Jong seems like the obvious short-term replacement unless Koeman turns to Barça B.
