ABDUL Rashid Shohra, who was prevented in October by a municipal court in Srinagar from entering his home following a complaint of domestic violence by family members, wrote to J&K DGP Dilbag Singh on Monday alleging that his daughter Shehla Rashid, an activist student, took Rs 3 crore from a Kashmiri businessman.
He alleged that the money was given by businessman Zahoor Ahmad Shah Vatali for joining the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement, a party originally launched by Shah Faesal, an IAS official whose resignation is pending with the government.
Vatali and former MLA engineer Rashid were arrested by the National Investigative Agency in a terrorist financing case in 2017 and mid-2019, respectively.
When contacted, Shehla told The Indian Express: “We filed an FIR and we went to court and filed a domestic violence case. You are trying to derail the judicial process, you are prohibited from entering our house. He’s the one who claims to have met Zahoor Watali, not me. If you’ve been to those meetings, you should respond. We have been apart for a long time, so we have nothing to do with it. If he had made deals on my behalf, then I should explain this. If you think I am involved in anti-national activities, why have you waited so long to file a complaint? Now that he can’t go home, he’s making these things up. “
1) Many of you must have come across a video of my biological father making wild accusations against me and my mom and my sister. To be short and direct, he is a wife beater and an abusive and depraved man. We finally decided to act against him, and this trick is a reaction to that. pic.twitter.com/SuIn450mo2

Shah Faesal did not respond to a request for comment on the allegations made by Shohra.
In his letter to Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh on Monday, Shohra complained that he was facing a threat to his life from Shehla, his eldest daughter Asma Rashid, his wife Zubaida Shohra and his security guard Sakib Ahmed, and sought safety personnel and police intervention to gain access to your home.
He also requested an investigation into their bank accounts, email accounts, their acquisition of property in Delhi and “mysterious financial deals with Feroz Peerzada, Zahoor Vatali and the engineer Rashid.” J&K DGP Dilbag Singh did not respond to a question about the status of Shohra’s complaint.
Shohra said Zahoor Vatali had called him at his Sanant Nagar residence in June 2017, two months before the NIA arrested the latter. Engineer Rasheed was also present there, he alleged. They told him about their plan to launch JKPM and sought his help in getting Shehla Rashid, who was in her last semester of a doctorate in sociology, to join them in their plan, he wrote.

Shah Faesal, a former politician and bureaucrat, was in the United States at the time.
“For this, I was offered Rs 3 crore for Shehla to join these notorious people,” Shohra said in his letter to DGP.
He claimed that despite his resistance, his wife and eldest daughter supported Shehla and became part of the deal along with Sakib Ahmad. –(With input from Naveed Iqbal in Srinagar)
