Lucknow: A man was shot and killed by a BJP MLA aide Thursday in front of local administrative officials over a dispute at a ration shop selection meeting in UP’s Ballia.
The killer reportedly fired 20 rounds while some policemen were present at the scene.
DIG Subhash Chandra Dubey confirmed that the main defendant, Dhirendra Singh, was released by the police and said that the police officers will face action.
The Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, ordered the suspension of the officials present at the scene at the time of the incident and an FIR was registered against 15 to 20 people in the complaint of the victim’s brother, Chandrama.

Accused Dhirendra Singh is a close contributor to BJP MLA Surendra Singh.
“Taking serious note of the incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered that the SDM, the CO and the police personnel present at the scene be immediately suspended and that the strictest measures be taken against the accused,” said the secretary Inland additional principal, Awanish Kumar Awasthi in Lucknow.
“The role of the agents will be investigated and whether a responsible criminal action will be taken,” he said.
Speaking to the media, DIG Subhash Chandra Dubey said that police are conducting raids to locate the accused.
“We will take exemplary action against the accused so that no one dares to commit such a crime in the future,” said the DIG.
