Faridabad: In the latest development in the Nikita Tomar murder case, a person accused of providing the “murder weapon” to lead defendant Tauseef, was arrested by Haryana police on Wednesday night. Nikita, a 21-year-old college student in Ballabhgarh, was shot and killed by Tauseef as she was returning from Aggarwal College after an exam in Haryana’s Ballabhgarh on October 26.

Previously, reports had claimed that Tauseef received a home-made pistol from one of his maternal uncle, who is currently languishing in jail.

Times Now’s Bhavatosh the person who organized the “murder weapon” for Tauseef has been detained by the Faridabad police. During his interrogation, the first defendant said that the locally made gun did not belong to him and one of his friends supplied him with the ‘katta’.

The Haryana government has ensured that the charge sheet will be submitted within 30 days.

The Haryana Police Special Investigation Team (SIT) met on Wednesday with the relatives of the deceased who was shot and killed by her stalker. The officials visited the victim’s residence on Sohna Road in Ballabhgarh and interacted with her parents.

Police arrested Tauseef and Rehan for allegedly killing the victim in front of their university in Ballabhgarh. Video of the shocking incident of the shooting has gone viral. The incident sparked protests with students and locals who blocked the road to Sohna on October 27.

The deceased’s mother claimed that her daughter was harassed by Tauseef two years ago and also pressured her to convert to Islam so that she could marry him.

Nikita’s family withdrew the complaint after the defendant after his relatives assured that Tauseef would make amends and would not harass her.

“After that, there was no contact between us and the defendant or his family. Nikita had attended his university regularly. She was a brilliant student, getting high marks at her university. She had obtained very high marks in her Class 10 and Class 12. exams … losing her this way has left us shocked, “said the aggrieved mother.

Meanwhile, Haryana Interior Minister Anil Vij claimed that the first defendant in the sensational murder case is a relative of Congressional leaders and that the victim’s family was forced to withdraw their complaint against the defendant in 2018 .

Vij also issued a comprehensive investigation into why “Nikita was being put under pressure to convert, despite his flat refusal.”

Commenting on the daylight killing of the B.Com senior student, the Haryana minister said his government will ensure speedy justice for the victim’s family and “will not allow this kind of ‘dadagiri’ in the state”.
