As the temple city prepares to celebrate a star-studded Ramleela at this Dussehra, a three-member production team approached Ayodhya from New Delhi to conduct a site survey on Tuesday.
Nine-day Ayodhya ki Ramleela will take place in Laxman Quila on the banks of the Saryu River from October 17 to 25, in which Bollywood actors will play various characters from the epic.
“The Ramleela production team visited Ayodhya to inspect the site,” said Rishikesh Upadhyay, Mayor of Ayodhya.
Bindu Dara Singh, son of the late wrestler / actor Dara Singh, who played the iconic role of Lord Hanuman in Ramnand Sagar’s Ramayana, will follow in his father’s footsteps by rehearsing the same role in Ramleela in Ayodhya.

Manoj Tewari, actor turned BJP MP from Northeast Delhi, will play the character of Angad, son of King Bali of Kishkindha, while famous Bhojpuri actor and now Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan will play the character of Bharat, the younger brother of Mr. Ram. .
The role of Sita will be rehearsed by Kavita Joshi and that of Lord Ram by Sonu Sagar. Legendary Bollywood comedian Asrani will take on the role of Narad Muni. Other Bollywood actors involved in the production include Raza Murad, Shahbaz Khan, Avtar Gill, Rajesh Puri, and Rakesh Bedi.
If the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic subsides by then, viewers will be able to witness the great Ramleela. Otherwise, the week-long show will be streamed live on social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram. It will also be broadcast live on national broadcaster Doordarshan and other entertainment channels.

After the BJP formed a government in the state in March 2017, the Yogi government has been organizing big Deepotsav celebrations in Ayodhya on the eve of Diwali.
The state government hosted three successive Deepotsav celebrations in Ayodhya in 2017, 2018 and 2019 with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath presiding over these celebrations.
However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Deepotsav celebrations will not be on a large scale this year.
