The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) finally put an end to all speculation by unveiling the long-awaited schedule for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) on September 6 (Sunday). Due to the increase in the number of coronavirus cases in India, the tournament was delayed and has now moved out of the country.

The most lucrative league in the world will start from September 19 and the final will take place on November 10 at three venues, namely Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

The opening match of the T20 Championship will be played between the three-time champion Chennai Super Kings and the defending champion Mumbai Indians at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. The league leg of the 2020 edition would culminate with the Mumbai Indians facing off Hyderabad sunrises on November 3 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah.

Along with the schedule, the official Indian Premier League Twitter user also released the anthem for this edition of the cash-rich league. The 1 minute 33 second hymn is titled ‘ayenge hum wapas’. The anthem is very lively and catchy and perfectly captures the mood of the nation.

The song sums up that the nation is trying to return to the world of cricket after a long and unexpected hiatus due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The video features all of the game’s legends, including Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul and many more.

Sharing the video on Twitter, IPL wrote: “The bigger the setback. The stronger the comeback. We can sum it up in 3 words: AayengeHumWapas, Watch # Dream11IPL starting September 19 @DisneyPlusHS, @StarSportsIndia @Hotstarusa # Dream11IPL #AayengeHumWapas #StrongerTogether #Anthem ”

It was speculated that the IPL schedule would come out in late August, but after all 13 members of the CSK contingent, including pacemaker Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad, tested positive for the new coronavirus, the BCCI had to make some changes to the calendar. Additionally, the Chennai Super Kings began training again for the league after completing their extended quarantine period on September 4 (Friday).
