Cases of bird flu have been reported in various parts of the country. In Himachal Pradesh, the Kangra Kangra District Magistrate today issued an order completely prohibiting the sale / purchase / export of poultry / poultry / fish of any breed / age and their related products (eggs, meat, chicken, etc.) in Fatehpur, Dehra, Jawali and Indora areas of Kangra. No movement of human beings will be allowed within a one kilometer radius of the Pong Dam or the alert zone declared by the Kangra district administration, according to the official order.

Avian flu in Rajasthan

State officials said on Monday (January 4, 2021) that more than 170 new bird deaths were reported in Rajasthan today. According to the department of animal husbandry, more than 425 deaths of crows, herons and other birds have been reported so far in the state, PTI reported.

Officials said that in Jhalawar, carcass samples sent to the National Institute for High Security Animal Diseases (NIHSAD) recently confirmed avian influenza. However, the report of bird deaths in other districts is yet to come. “So far, more than 425 birds, mostly crows, have died in parts of the state. Bird flu has only been confirmed in Jhalawar. The report of other deaths is yet to come, ”the officials quoted PTI as saying.

Bird flu in Kerala

Bird flu outbreak has been reported in some parts of Kottayam and Alappuzha districts in Kerala. The authorities have ordered the slaughter of ducks, chickens and other domestic birds within a radius of one kilometer of the affected areas.

According to a PTI report, Kottayam district authorities said bird flu was reported at a duck farm in Neendoor. Around 1,500 ducks have died on the farm. Similarly, an outbreak of bird flu was also reported on some farms in the Kuttanad region of Alappuzha district.

State Animal Husbandry Minister K Raju said in Thiruvananthapuram that the government would compensate farmers whose domestic birds will be slaughtered. According to state officials, some 40,000 birds will need to be euthanized to control the spread of the H5N8 virus.
