Authorized to make arrests and conduct searches without warrants, the Yogi government assents the special security force

The Uttar Pradesh government issued a notice on Sunday for the establishment of the Special Security Force (SSF) which will be empowered to make ‘arrests’ and conduct ‘searches’ without any prior warrant.

The court will not take cognizance of SSF officials and other employees without permission from the government. The SSF will be responsible for the security of important government buildings, offices and industrial establishments. Private companies will also be able to take on SSF services after making a payment.

An officer at the level of additional director general (ADG) will lead the force which will be based in the state capital of Lucknow. On June 26, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath approved the formation of the Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force. Following CM’s assent, the Interior Department issued the notice on Sunday.

According to the special power of attorney granted by force, if its members find reasons to believe that a crime referred to in article 10 has been or is being committed and the offender has no opportunity to escape or conceal evidence of the crime, if a search warrant cannot be obtained, then you can detain that person.

The officer can immediately search that person’s property and home. If the officer believes it is appropriate, the individual may also arrest you. But the condition is that the officer must believe that the individual may commit a crime.

Additional Chief Secretary (Interior) Awanish Kumar Awasthi said: “The Director General of Police, Uttar Pradesh, has given the go-ahead to the Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force. The UPSSF will be deployed for the security of airports, courts, industrial institutions, metro, religious sites and industrial institutions. The UP SSF headquarters will be in Lucknow and will be led by an ADG level officer. “

Initially, five battalions of the UPSSF will be formed and all of them will have separate ADGs. The UPSSF will operate under a separate law.

In the first phase, 9,919 troops will be deployed with the force. Subsequently, 1,913 additional posts will be created for the force. The initial five battalions will cost the government around 1,747.06 million rupees.
