Australia defeated India by eight wickets in the first round of the four-game series at the Adelaide Oval. The hosts were awarded a measly 90-run goal, after the visitors posted a total of 36 runs in the second inning. The Indian team’s 36/9 total is its lowest ever in test cricket, and none of the batsmen managed to reach double figures. Fans were disappointed in this performance, which was reflected in some undeserved criticism that Wasim Jaffer received on Twitter for being “busy making memes”, having been mistaken as the “hitting coach” of the Indian team. “When the hitting coach is busy making memes, what to expect from hitters. #INDvAUS,” said the fan. Jaffer calmly corrected him on the social media platform. “I’m not hitting coach Mohit,” read the former Indian cricketer’s tweet.
